This
group consists of five Commodity Teams:
All work, except that for irrigation, is coordinated from Chitedze
where there are facilities for soil and plant testing and fabrication.
Irrigation research is coordinated from Kasinthula Experiment Station.
Research activities are mainly focused on the development of technologies
that improve soil fertility; development of area specific fertilizer
recommendations; minimum tillage techniques; crop rotation systems;
soil and water conservation strategies; agroforestry species and systems;
labour saving technologies and processing machinery.
