  Produce Inspection Team

 
The produce inspection team ensures that produce for export and import conforms to standards set by interested parties. Accordingly, produce inspectors facilitate the export and import of agricultural produce (vegetables, fruits, rice, beans, tobacco and other plant materials or plant products).

Main activities

(i) crop inspections at the ports of entry,
(ii) issuing of import permits and phytosanitary certificates,
(iii) certification of exported and imported agricultural products,
(iv) ensuring that no exotic pests and diseases of plant quarantine importance are introduced, and
(v) ensuring that agricultural produce being offered to the consumer is free from contamination by pesticides, infestation by pests or by diseases.
(iv) crop inspection to ensure that importation excludes weed-seeds of quarantine nature.
