Human Resources
Realising that the key to effective research is a qualified and skilled
human resource base, DARTS has developed its human resources from an all
expatriate scientific staff in the early 1960s to a scientific cadre of
local Malawian staff with PhDs, MScs, and BSc at the present. This was achieved
by the implementation of extensive training programmes funded by USAID between
1980 and 1985, the World Bank between 1985 and 1998, ODA (DfID) throughout
the 1980s and early 1990s, and several other donors and institutions, including
GTZ, the Rockefeller Foundation, FAO, UNDP and the IARCs. The summary below
gives details of the staffing at DARTS Headquarters. Information on personnel
in the various research and advisory commodities appears under the
respective stations. |
