Background Information

The National Youth Council of Malawi  is a statutory corporation of the Republic of Malawi established through an Act of Parliament, The National Youth Council of Malawi Act No. 22 of 1996.

The Council is autonomous, independent and non-partisan staturoty corporation whose main mandate is to promite youth participation to allow youth realize their full potential inall endeavours.

Program Areas and Priority Target Groups

The Council recognises the need to provide opportunities for all youth in Malawi regardless of status.
In view of this, Concil will endeavour to promote the participation of disadvantaged youth in all its programmes and activities.

...More than half of the population of Malawi is below the age of 25, which indicates that Malawi is a youthful nation; and that the youth are the nation today and tomorrow. The youth are energetic, adventurous, industrious, strong... and willing to learn.
