for the country's exports
through negotiations and bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

Coordinate the country's membership
to commodity and other trade related international oganisations such as
the International Sugar Organisation, the International Coffee Organisation,
the Southern Africa Development Community, etc.

- Participate in international
and regional trade meetings.

- Provide trade information to
the business community and the general public particularly
on regional and international markets.

Ensure efficient and effective
distribution of goods.

Provide business advisory services.

Monitor business performance to
ensure compliance with relevant laws including consumer protection requirement

for effective development, of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Sector.

Coordinate the activities of the
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Sector for effective delivery of programmes.

Small and Medium Enterprise Sector by facilitating access to credit and
finance, markets and technologies.

Develop managerial competencies
and technical capabilities of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Sector
through productivity improvement measures.

PLANNING &
STATISTIC DEPARTMENT
Purpose: - To
coordinate the Planning of all functions in the Ministry.
Functions:-

Carry out project formulation,
appraisal and budgetary.

Design effective reporting and
monitoring systems and procedures and producing periodic reports for both
internal and donor use.

Carry out research and monitoring
and evaluation of the Ministry's programmes.

Co-ordinate policy formulation,
analysis and review.
