Consultations on Witchcraft Act

The Special Law Commission on the Review of the Witchcraft Act will be carrying out consultations in all the three regions of Malawi. The consultations will start on Tuesday the 13th of October 2009 in the Central Region. All districts are targeted except Dowa. The exercise started in July 2009 and is expected to end in June 2010.

Consultations on Chiefs Act

Consultations on the Review of Chiefs Act are being conducted in the three regions of Malawi. Consultations started in August 2009 and the exercise is expected to end in November 2009. So far consultations were carried out in the northern and southern regions targeting Mzuzu, Rumphi and Nkhatabay in the northern region and Zomba, Blantyre, Thyolo and Chikwawa in the southern region. Consultations in the central region are still going on with Ntcheu and Nkhotakota already consulted. After the consultation process an Issues Paper on the Review of the Chiefs Act will be developed.
