2001/2002 UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI SELECTION

The University of Malawi has released names of candidates who have been selected to pursue various programs in the constituent colleges for the 2001/2002 academic year. This process began with the administration of a University Entrance Examination (UEE) in April 2001. Candidates who obtained 6 credits including English on MSCE examinations in 1998, 1999, and 2000 or had equivalent qualifications were allowed to take the entrance examinations.

Out of the 1551 candidates who sat for the UEE, 584 have been selected. Other candidates that have been admitted include 5 A-level applicants, 146 mature entry candidates, and 20 College of Medicine students.

The overall summary of the 2001/2002 intake broken down by gender and college is as follows:

The selection was based on merit and bed spaces available. Names of selected candidates will be displayed on notice boards at constituent colleges and the University Office in Zomba.

Candidates will receive letters of admission from the college they have been selected to and are expected to report at their respective colleges on dates to be announced. The financial contribution to the university of Malawi is currently K25,000.00 per annum, subject to review. Fees for mature entry candidates will be communicated to the candidates by their Colleges. Students are reminded to bring their financial contribution on the date of arrival on the campus.
