NORMAL INTAKE
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to register for studies for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (Education) and Bachelor of Science (Education) during the Academic Year 2000.
The University operates a semester system of 16 weeks and 17 weeks in the first and second semester respectively. An Academic Year has a total of 33 weeks.
Bachelor of Arts (Education)
English and Geography will be offered as a major teaching subject.
The following will be offered as minor teaching subjects:
English
Geography
History
Social Studies
Bachelor of Science (Education)
Mathematics, Physical Science and Biology will be offered as major teaching subject.
The following will be offered as minor teaching subjects:
Mathematics
Biology
Integrated Science
Geography
All students will be required to take a Communication Studies course in Year 1 and courses in Education and Teaching Studies (Year 1 to 4). They will also be required to do Teaching Practice.
Entry Qualifications
Applicants must have a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
or its equivalents with an aggregate of 33 points and below in the best
six subjects. Candidates should also have credit of not lower than
4 (between 4 and 1) in a major teaching subject and another credit of not
lower than 5 (between 5 and 1) in a minor subject. Applicants must
also have obtained a credit of 6 in English at MSCE or its equivalents.
