ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS AND PROGRAMMES

The University started with the Faculty of Education and offers BA (Education) and BSc (Education) programmes. These are four year programmes.

There are five departments in the faculty:-

Education and Teaching Studies
English
Mathematics
Basic Sciences
Humanities

There is also a special degree programme leading to BSc (Health Science Education) degree. It is an upgrading programme for nurses, clinical officers and other health workers, who have a diploma qualification or its equivalent and have several years of field experience.

CENTRES/INSTITUTES

The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) runs short courses in a wide range of fields. Courses that are run include solar energy, water resources management, renewable energy, biomass energy, and so forth.

The Centre is expected to offer degrees and other qualifications through distance learning or correspondence in the near future. The aim is to provide an opportunity to many Malawians to continue their studies while they are working.
