ABOUT MALAWI

One of the smallest countries in Africa, situated between Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia. It is landlocked and one fifth of the country is taken up by Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa which is in the Great Rift Valley. Malawi offers the tourism beauty, the highlands, valleys, forests and rolling glasslands. It is a paradise for nature lovers.

Airport taxes
All travelers pay an airport departure tax of USD30.00 when flying out of the country. There is a charge of MK200.00 for domestic departures.

Visas
Visas are required by all entering the country except nationals of Belgium,most commonwealth countries, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Scandinavia, Spain and USA. Check with your travel agent or Malawi Mission abroad; regulations change from time to time. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.

CUSTOMS
Duty is not normally charged on visitor?s personal effects ? the concession applies to items to be reexported. The following may be brought in duty free, provided they are declared and carried as accompanying luggage.
  • 200 cigarettes or 225gm of tobacco.
  • One quart of sprit, one quart of wine and one litter of beer (for persons over 16 years).
